Finding Clusters of Groups with Measurement Invariance: Unraveling Intercept Non-Invariance with Mixture Multigroup Factor Analysis

چکیده

Comparisons of latent constructs across groups are ubiquitous in behavioral research and, nowadays, often numerous involved. Measurement invariance the is imperative for valid comparisons and can be tested by multigroup factor analysis. Metric (invariant loadings) holds, whereas scalar intercepts) rarely supported many groups. Scalar a prerequisite comparing means, however. One may inspect group-specific intercepts to pinpoint non-invariances, but this daunting task case This paper presents mixture analysis (MMG-FA) clustering based on their intercepts. Clusters with obtained imposing cluster-specific invariant loadings unique variances, (co)variances differ between Thus, MMG-FA ties down number generates clusters wherein means validly compared.

On The Factor Structure invariance of the PhD UEE Using Multigroup Confirmatory Factor Analysis

The aim of the current study was twofold: (1) to validate the internal structure of the general English (GE) section of the university entrance examination for Ph.D applicants into the English programs at state universities in Iran (Ph.D. UEE), and (2) to examine the factor structure invariance of the Ph.D. UEE across two proficiency levels. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to analyz...

Generalized measurement invariance tests with application to factor analysis

The issue of measurement invariance commonly arises in factor-analytic contexts, with methods for assessment including likelihood ratio tests, Lagrange multiplier tests, and Wald tests. These tests all require advance definition of the number of groups, group membership, and offending model parameters. In this paper, we construct tests of measurement invariance based on stochastic processes of ...

Studying Measurement Invariance Using Confirmatory Factor Analysis

For any such use of scale scores, there is a critical assumption that the scale is measuring the same trait in all of the groups. If that assumption holds, then comparisons and analyses of those scores are acceptable and yield meaningful interpretations. But if that assumption is not true, then such comparisons and analyses do not yield meaningful results. This is the general issue of (MI). mea...

BSEM Measurement Invariance Analysis

This paper concerns measurement invariance analysis for situations with many groups or time points. A BSEM (Bayesian Structural Equation Modeling) approach is proposed for detecting non-invariance that is similar to modification indices with maximum-likelihood estimation, but unlike maximum-likelihood is applicable also for high-dimensional latent variable models for categorical variables. Unde...
